Torch Come Back Late to Top Dragoons
|
Getting a good performance from right fielder Leonard Ávila, the Mancelona Torch defeated the Louisiana Dragoons, 9-3. Ávila was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times for the Torch. Mancelona is now 21-18, Louisiana 24-15.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the eighth inning when the Torch sent teenager Jur Prokop to the plate against Dragoons hurler Billy Brooks. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 1-0 splitter to score 3.
"We did a lot of things right," said Prokop.
