Victory Pushes Caterpillars Record to 18-14
|
The Grand Forks Caterpillars went home winners at Plain Old Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Kabeya Kasongo. Kasongo silenced the Nebraska Plainsmen, enabling Grand Forks to grab the 8-1 win. Kasongo, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. Alberto Ortíz earned the save, his 3rd, for the Caterpillars.
Ralph Sands, who is tied for 10th in the 3A in home runs with 3, aided the Grand Forks cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 4.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Sands. "And not try to do too much."
Grand Forks goes to 18-14, Nebraska to 13-19.
