Late Rally by Screaming Eagles Seals 4th Straight Win
|
Benefiting from Arnold Griffith's productive game, the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles downed the Tacoma Fur Traders, 6-3. Griffith was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Screaming Eagles. Gob Bluth got credit for the win, improving to 7-2. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings. Leo Ingelbrigtsen was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 6 save opportunities.
Mercer Island took a 6-3 lead on Griffith's 92nd hit of the season. The 2-run single, which he hit off Pedro Pérez in the top of the eighth, propelled Mercer Island to the win.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Screaming Eagles manager David Lundy, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
Mercer Island goes to 65-36. The win puts them 7 games up in their division.
