A nice crowd turned out to see the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles and Tacoma Fur Traders clash at Ballpark of Tacoma.

The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles topped the Tacoma Fur Traders, 9-5, with youngster Pedro Hernández playing a key role. Hernández went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 4 runs and drove in 2 for the Screaming Eagles in the win. Mercer Island reliever Luis Ochoa picked up the win to move to 4-1. Francisco Luevanos suffered the loss.

The game hit a turning point in the top of the fourth inning, when the Screaming Eagles were trailing 2-1. Jorge Pérez delivered a two-out 2-run single for Mercer Island, catapulting his team into the lead.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Mercer Island manager David Lundy.

Mercer Island goes to 64-36. The win puts them 7 games up in their division.
