Rails Squelch Highlanders Offense in Shutout Win
Richland played host to Asheville at the friendly confines of Rails Ballpark.

Asheville got a terrific performance from pitcher Todd Serrano, but it wasn't enough to beat the Richland Rails. Richland won the Rails Ballpark contest, 4-0. Serrano was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Richland reliever Carlton Roberts picked up the win, upping his record to 3-4. Todd Serrano was saddled with the loss.

The game hung in the balance with no one out in the top of the eighth. The score was 1-0, Rails. But Asheville had the bases empty. The Rails needed an out. Landon Harryman stepped into the box with a chance to deliver. Instead, he flied out.

The Highlanders, now 28-50, have lost 9 in a row.
