Chesapeake Grounds was the site of a tense game between the Chesapeake Continentals and Minnesota Loons.
The Loons faced a stiff challenge from Chesapeake pitcher Juan Valdéz, but persevered to claim a win at Chesapeake Grounds. The final score was 3-2. Valdéz went 5 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The Loons raised their record to 44-34.
The Loons got a big at-bat from pinch hitter José Mercado. For the game, Mercado was 1 for 1. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 6th hit of the season gave Minnesota a 3-2 lead.
