Rapiers Hold Off Fur Traders, 3-2
|
Durham beat Tacoma on the strength of starter Manny Sandoval's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. In 7.1 innings, Sandoval surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. The Fur Traders, now 30-45, have lost 7 straight.
It could have been a different outcome for Durham, had it not been for Alberto Garza, the 25-year old center fielder . Garza contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Durham up, 3-0.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Sandoval told the Durham Herald.
