The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles defeated the Richland Rails, 4-1, in USPL Double A action at Rails Ballpark, with Mercer Island pitcher Raimo Kangas named player of the game. Luis Ochoa, credited with the save, is now 3 for 3 in save opportunities. Mercer Island improves to 48-27 with the win. They lead their division by 4½ games.
The Rails had trouble solving Kangas, who surrendered 1 earned run on 4 hits over 8.2 innings.
"Enjoyed this one," Kangas told the Mercer Island Observer. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
