D.C. Divided starter Carlos Sánchez turned in an exceptional performance against the Portland Evergreens at Washington Stadium, resulting in a D.C. win, 3-1. The winning pitcher was Sánchez, now 8-4. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. D.C. bumps their record to 40-58 with the win.

The Divided got a big at-bat from shortstop Rubén Alvarado. For the game, Alvarado went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave D.C. a 3-1 lead.

"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said Sánchez.
