Screaming Eagles Raise Rally Flag, Beat Northville, 5-4
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles scored a 5-4 win versus the Northville Eclipse at Mercer Island Grounds. Mercer Island pitcher Gob Bluth nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Mercer Island reliever Gob Bluth was credited with the win, to go to 1-1. Vaugh Chesser took the loss for Northville. The first-place Screaming Eagles have a one-game lead in their division.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Mercer Island trailing 4-3, Alberto Enríquez hit a fastball from Vaugh Chesser to left for a 2-run double. Just like that, the Screaming Eagles had a walk-off win.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Enríquez told the Mercer Island Observer.
