Highlanders Solve Rapiers, 4-2
|
The Asheville Highlanders topped the Durham Rapiers by the score of 4-2, with the largest share of the credit going to third baseman Michael Brannon. Brannon was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Highlanders. Asheville starter Marvin Wasmund was credited with the win after throwing 101 pitches over 8.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-4. Ricky O'Toole earned the save for Asheville, his 1st of the year.
Brannon had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the fourth inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Highlanders went on to win.
"It was our day today," Brannon told the Asheville News. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
The Highlanders improved to 17-26.
