Highlanders Fall Short, 5-4, at Minnesota
|
Asheville second baseman Ed Lastinger had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Minnesota at Loony Bin. Lastinger went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Steve Tedder got the win, improving to 4-0. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Jeff Territt earned the save, his 6th, for the Loons.
In the bottom of the fifth, Minnesota left fielder Jimmy Fick had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out, Fick stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 3-2, Minnesota. For the game, he went 1 for 3 with a walk.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Minnesota manager Leo Sargent.
The first-place Loons have a one-game lead in their division.
