Loons Solve Highlanders, 4-3

Loony Bin was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Minnesota Loons and the Asheville Highlanders.
Starting pitcher Melchor Morse pitched well enough to help the Minnesota Loons beat the Asheville Highlanders by the score of 4-3. Minnesota reliever Horatio McAllister got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Ricky O'Toole was tagged with the loss.
Had Michael Ward not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Ward hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Loons.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Minnesota manager Leo Sargent.
The Loons, at 18-13, lead by one game in their division.
