Rainbow Mermaids Get Past Ft. Worth for 4-3 Win
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids picked up a win at Atlantica, knocking off the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 4-3. On the mound for Northern Virginia was right-hander Eric Matson, who played a pivotal role in the win. Ilie Paunescu got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings. The win leaves Northern Virginia with a record of 6-4.
Galtero Suárez was the walk-off hero for Northern Virginia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rainbow Mermaids catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"This team is on a mission," said Matson, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
