Continentals Stymie Richland, Take 4-1 Win
|
The Chesapeake Continentals defeated the Richland Rails, 4-1, in USPL Double A action at Chesapeake Grounds, with Chesapeake pitcher Andrew Prieto named player of the game. Prieto, the winner, moves to 2-3. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. The win puts the Continentals at 12-15, while the Rails drop to 11-16.
The Continentals got a big at-bat from shortstop Bartholomew Bailey. For the game, Bailey was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 23rd hit of the season gave Chesapeake a 1-0 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Bailey.
