Youth Jolt Rails with Late Rally

Richland shortstop Ilkka Haapajarvi had a good game, even if his team did not. The Rails dropped a 9-5 decision to Phoenix Hotspur at Rails Ballpark. Haapajarvi went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Phoenix Hotspur starter Masahiro Sakei was credited with the win after throwing 119 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-3. Phoenix Hotspur, at 12-12, occupies 6th place in the Premier AA.
Had Bill Poole not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Poole hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Youth.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Poole.
