Youth Fall to .500 After Loss to Rails
|
Richland pitcher Claudio Palma did his part in helping his team beat the Phoenix Hotspur Youth, 8-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Palma went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-1. Richland is now 9-13.
Tony Manzanares took Derrick Hopkins deep in the bottom of the first. His 3-run home run put the Rails on top, 3-0. In all, Manzanares had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Palma told a Richland Times reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
