Shooters Clip Rails in Tight Contest
|
Richland catcher Tony Manzanares had a good game, even if his team did not. The Rails dropped a 8-5 decision to Springfield at Springfield Stadium. Manzanares went 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Springfield reliever Tomás Galván picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Hartmann Riedman shouldered the loss. The win leaves Springfield with a record of 9-10.
Springfield took a 8-5 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, shortstop Miguel Elías hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager John Carney said.
