Rapiers Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
The Durham Rapiers beat the Richland Rails, 5-3, at Rails Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of pinch hitter Carlos Evangelho, who captured player of the game honors. He was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Rapiers are off to a tough start, getting just their 3rd win in 11 games.
Evangelho had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-2 circle change from Poto Scacceri, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Rapiers a 4-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Evangelho.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Evangelho told the Durham Herald.
