Rapiers Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start
|
The Durham Rapiers downed the Springfield Shooters, 7-2, at Rapiers Ballpark. Raúl Moreno led the way, going 2-for-4 for Durham. Edward Scarborough, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 9 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 0. His record now stands at 1-0. Mark Sinclair closed the door for Durham, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Early in the game, Moreno had a 2-run single for Durham. It was his 3rd hit of the season and put the Rapiers on top, 4-2.
In comments to the Durham Herald, Moreno admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
Durham, now 1-2, is off to a slow start.
