Fans who gathered at Mercer Island Grounds saw a good contest between the Asheville Highlanders and Mercer Island Screaming Eagles.

Asheville pinch hitter John Hansen had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 4-2 win over the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles. Asheville reliever Raúl Valdéz picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Gob Bluth shouldered the loss.

Had Hansen not come through in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Hansen hit a 3-run home run. The Highlanders never looked back after taking the 4-1 lead.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Asheville manager Barry Embling.

The loss drops Mercer Island to 1-1.
