Tritons Get One-Run Win at Tortolita
|
The Jersey City Tritons defeated the Tortolita Drummers, 6-5, in USPL Triple A action at Drummers Ballpark, with Jersey City pitcher Juan Costello named player of the game. Costello, the winner, moves to 4-2. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. Jersey City now owns a record of 50-51.
Golden Glades, Florida-born Dave Atkins came through in the clutch. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded and the Tritons trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run double to left-center to put Jersey City on top.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Tortolita manager Arturo Chávez. "The effort was great."
