|
Despite a great performance by Jersey City first baseman Arturo Scantlebury, the Salt Lake City Buzz defeated the Tritons by the score of 9-5 at Jersey City Grounds. Scantlebury was 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. The win was credited to Bart Gresham in relief. His record improves to 6-3. Francisco Sandoval took the loss. Salt Lake City improves to 44-27 with the win. They lead their division by 4½ games.
Ilkka Haapajarvi, who is rated as the 14th best prospect by BNN, contributed to the Salt Lake City win with a 3-run home run in the top of the first. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
