Buzz Get One-Run Win at Phoenix
|
Thunderbirds Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves and Salt Lake City Buzz.
The Salt Lake City Buzz topped the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 3-2, in USPL Triple A action at Thunderbirds Stadium. The player of the game was Salt Lake City pitcher Barney Starr. Starr, the winner, moves to 6-1. He threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks.
Tied up with the Hotspur Reserves in the top of the fourth inning, the Buzz got a boost from designated hitter Alexandre Keeping. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Keeping saw a 1-1 fastball from Vernon Turner and hit a 2-run double to break the stalemate and put Salt Lake City on top, 3-1.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Salt Lake City manager Allen Bartlett.
Phoenix's current losing streak is now 4 games.
