Hotspur Reserves Edge Past Longnecks, 3-2
|
The Phoenix Hotspur Reserves picked up a win at Lookouts Ballpark, knocking off the Bloomington Longnecks, 3-2. Starting pitcher Jorge Cruzan, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Cruzan, now 1-6, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Phoenix has now won 3 straight, while the Longnecks have lost 3 in a row.
This game went down to the wire. In the top of the ninth, Corey Ferguson had a big at-bat. With two out, the Phoenix catcher drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put his team up, 3-2.
"We found a way to get it done," Ferguson said.
