Longnecks Get Past Jersey City for 4-3 Win
|
The Bloomington Longnecks eked out a 4-3 win versus the Jersey City Tritons at Lookouts Ballpark. Nobody did more than right fielder Benedict Patel, who captured player of the game honors. Bloomington reliever Jesús Medina picked up the win to move to 2-0. Joseph Chartier suffered the loss. Fernando Ramírez picked up the save for Bloomington, his 3rd of the year.
Had Martín Martínez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Martínez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Longnecks.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Jersey City manager Pierre Muller.
The Longnecks have an impressive 20-12 record.
