Dogfish Head Come Up Short at Plymouth
|
Despite a fine performance by second baseman Raúl Ortíz, the Milton Dogfish Head suffered a 6-5 loss to the Plymouth Rocks. Ortíz went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Bob Payne picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Nick Richie was tagged with the loss. The Rocks now have a record of 17-13 with the win over Milton.
Had Roku Hara not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hara hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Rocks.
Hara told a Plymouth Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
