Longnecks Come Back Late, Nip Hotspur Reserves
|
The Bloomington Longnecks topped the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 4-3, in USPL Triple A action at Thunderbirds Stadium. The player of the game was Bloomington pitcher and Buena Park, California native Atila Freska. Ieyoshi Asai picked up the save for Bloomington, his 5th of the year. The win brings the Longnecks to 10-7, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the sixth inning. Facing Phoenix hurler Jorge Cruzan, Silvio Bonauiti hit a single. The Longnecks went on to win.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Freska told the Bloomington Today.
