Rainbow Mermaids Fall to .500 After Loss to Cattlemen
Northern Virginia first baseman Kyoji Hakoda had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-4, to Ft. Worth at The Cattle Pen. Hakoda went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Fraser Cuevas got the win, improving to 4-7. He held the Rainbow Mermaids to 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Asher Spivey was called on to finish, recording his 18th save.

Ft. Worth took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, Rick Mayfield stroked a 2-run single to make it 6-4, Cattlemen.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Mayfield said.

Northern Virginia's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
