Late Rally by Farmers Secures Win
|
The Lancaster Farmers faced a tough opponent in Virginia Beach pitcher Victor de Meij, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Farmers Field by a final score of 3-1. de Meij went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The Farmers bumped their record to 50-46 with this latest triumph.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Hsi-men King came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Virginia Beach pitcher Vladmiri Fanardjyan, he hit a 0-2 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Lancaster on top, 2-1.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," King said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
