Grasshoppers Knock Off Nationals at Field of the Grasshoppers
|
The San Bernardino Grasshoppers topped the Ottawa Nationals, 6-4, with youngster Gong Mao playing a key role. Mao was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Grasshoppers in the win. The save went to Austin Aries, his 11th this season. San Bernardino is 49-44 and Ottawa, with the loss, 47-46.
The Grasshoppers got a big at-bat from shortstop Luis Yander La O. For the game, Yander La O went 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 91st hit of the season gave San Bernardino a 6-4 lead.
Mao called the triumph "a good team win."
