Deuces Jolt Grasshoppers with Late Rally
San Bernardino got a terrific performance from pitcher Vicente Durango, but it wasn't enough to beat the Virginia Beach Deuces. Virginia Beach won the Field of the Grasshoppers contest, 3-1. Durango was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Urs Ehles was credited with the save for Virginia Beach, his 17th of the season. San Bernardino has now lost 4 in a row.

Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Richard Sonntag, hit a single. It helped Virginia Beach seize the win.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Virginia Beach manager Yoshifumi Kamuta.
