Hops Win Again, Extend Streak to 7
|
Yakima right-hander Otto Joseph made an effective start against the San Bernardino Grasshoppers at Hops Park, leading his team to a 3-1 win. Joseph picked up the win for Yakima, going 6.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-1. The save was credited to Pieter Spitsbaard, his 5th.
Tied up with the Grasshoppers in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Hops got a boost from third baseman Jesús De Jesús. With a runner on 1st, De Jesús saw a 1-1 forkball from Matt Martin and hit a 2-run home run to break the stalemate and put Yakima on top, 2-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said De Jesús. "And not try to do too much."
The winning continues for Yakima, with the latest making it 7 straight.
