Rawhides Fall Short at Billings
|
The Billings Polar Bears beat the Belvedere Park Rawhides, 5-4, at The Igloo. The win was largely due to the efforts of second baseman Omar Schuler, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Billings reliever Francisco López was the winner. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Sam Pelsize. Billings now owns a record of 31-40.
Gregory Shankland was the walk-off hero for Billings. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Polar Bears pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Shankland told the Billings Bulletin. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
