Hops Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
Fans who gathered at Hops Park saw a good contest between the Yakima Hops and San Antonio BC.
In a low-scoring affair between the Yakima Hops and the San Antonio BC, pitcher Bob Maher was the difference between victory and defeat. The Yakima right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-1 Hops win. Yakima reliever Pieter Spitsbaard picked up the win, bumping his record to 4-5. Steve Costlow was collared with the loss. Marvin Cahill closed the door for Yakima, picking up his 8th save of the year.
Had Maher not come through in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Maher hit a 2-run double. The Hops never looked back after taking the 3-1 lead.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Maher.
Yakima has now won 4 straight.
