Farmers Pin 7-3 Loss on Thunder Hawks
|
The Lancaster Farmers picked up a win at Farmers Field, knocking off the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 7-3. Starting pitcher Marnix van Rijn, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was van Rijn, now 4-3. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Santiago Pérez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
The Farmers used some clutch hitting to beat the Thunder Hawks, a good example being the at-bat of Gabe Cain in the bottom of the second. With two down, Cain gave his team the lead, 3-1, when he hit a 2-run double.
"It feels good to get this one," Cain told the Lancaster Bulletin.
At 36-27, the Farmers find themselves in third place in the Menard's AA.
