Atoms Win Again, Extend Streak to 6
|
The Bethesda Atoms beat the Billings Polar Bears, 6-4, at The Igloo. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Pat Sargent, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Vincent O'Higgin got the win, improving to 4-2. He held the Polar Bears to 4 earned runs on 6 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 7. Bethesda has now won 6 games in a row.
The game hit a turning point in the top of the fifth inning, when the Atoms were trailing 4-2. Andrés López delivered a two-out 3-run home run for Bethesda, catapulting his team into the lead.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Raúl Méndez.
