Late Rally by Nationals Secures Win
|
The Ottawa Nationals got a strong performance from pitcher Jon Hounshell, who stymied the San Bernardino offense en route to a 3-2 win at Nationals Park. The win was credited to Shackleford Stanwick in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Enrique Arrabal took the loss. Ed Maresh converted his 19th save in 20 tries.
Scot Willis went 1-3, while adding 2 RBI for Ottawa. The 23-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Enrique Arrabal. It was his 40th RBI of the season.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Willis said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Grasshoppers, at 32-29, have lost 5 in a row.
