Atoms Get Road Win, 5-1
|
The Bethesda Atoms picked up a win at Farmers Field, knocking off the Lancaster Farmers, 5-1. Starting pitcher Vincent O'Higgin, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was O'Higgin, now 2-2. He tossed 6 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 8. Bethesda is now 18-30, while Lancaster is 29-19.
The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the bottom of the fifth inning, but O'Higgin was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Lancaster trailing 2-0, O'Higgin retired David Sánchez, who grounded out.
