Deuces Win at Ottawa, 4-1
|
Virginia Beach Deuces starter Wu-shiun Lao turned in a top-notch performance against the Ottawa Nationals at Nationals Park. The result was a win for the Deuces, 4-1. Lao, now 5-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Urs Ehles earned the save for Virginia Beach, his 10th of the year.
Had Juan Carlos López not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, López hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Deuces.
"Enjoyed this one," López told the Virginia Beach Observer. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The winning streak has now reached 6 games for Virginia Beach.
