Deuces Stay Hot, Beat Nationals
|
The Virginia Beach Deuces faced a tough opponent in Ottawa pitcher Chris Kuhn, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Nationals Park by a final score of 8-3. Kuhn went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. Anastasio Cabanillas Jr. got credit for the win, improving to 5-3. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 6.2 innings. Virginia Beach has now won 5 games in a row.
With runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out in the top of the first inning, second baseman Luis Díaz delivered big for the Deuces. Virginia Beach was leading 2-0 when he belted a 3-run home run.
"I felt good up there," said Díaz. "I saw the ball well."
