The Billings Polar Bears did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Lancaster Farmers at The Igloo. Nobody did more than pitcher Salvador López, who captured player of the game honors. López went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 4-1. Getting the save was Eduardo Díaz, his 3rd.
Had Jesús Vásquez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Vásquez hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Polar Bears.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," López said.
Billings has now won 4 in a row.
