Nationals Subdue Bethesda, 3-1
|
Getting an impressive start from José Sipe, Ottawa beat Bethesda by the score of 3-1. Ed Maresh earned the save for Ottawa, his 5th of the year. The Nationals are off to a tough start, getting just their 6th win in 15 games.
The Nationals got a big at-bat from designated hitter Carlos Cirilli. For the game, Cirilli was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Ottawa a 2-0 lead.
Sipe said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
