Late Rally by Aviators Secures Win
|
Houston got a terrific performance from pitcher Jon Briddon, but it wasn't enough to beat the Seattle Aviators. Seattle won the Boeing Dome contest, 2-1. Briddon was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. Seattle reliever Zach Rediker picked up the win, upping his record to 8-2. Roy Alsobrook was saddled with the loss. The 1837 BBC, at 50-54, have lost 4 in a row.
Had Ludwig Kluge not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Kluge hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Aviators.
"The division is still up for grabs, but I like our chances," Kluge told the Seattle Daily News.
