Panama City beat Portland on the strength of starter Pedro Alejándrez's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 4-1 win. Alejándrez got the win, improving to 9-5. He allowed 4 hits and walked 0 over 5.2 innings. Alejándrez allowed 1 earned run. Folkert van Huizen picked up the save, his 15th.
One of the key players for the Piranhas was left fielder Peter Heard, who drilled a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first inning. For the game, Heard went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Panama City manager Matthew Rubo.
Panama City, at 35-32, occupies 4th place in the Premier League.
