Oaks Continue Skid Thanks to Nieves, Voodoo
|
The New Orleans Voodoo knocked off the Oakland Oaks, 13-4, at Oakland Coliseum. Mario Nieves, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason New Orleans won. The first baseman was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Juan Díaz got the win, improving to 8-7. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 3 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Oakland has now lost 5 straight.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when designated hitter William O'Keefe, who is tied for 5th in the 3L in extra base hits with 35, hit a single. The Voodoo went on to win.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Oakland manager DAshley GoAs.
