Northern Lions BC Jolt Pandas with Late Rally

With shortstop Augusto Encarnación leading the charge, the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC defeated the Montana Pandas, 5-4, at Panda Park. Encarnación, who is rated as the 8th best prospect by BNN, went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Stewart Fleming was the winning pitcher. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Cherles Gachineiro picked up the save, his 4th.
Encarnación had a game-changing double in the top of the eighth. On a 1-0 forkball from Morlack Spurgeon, he banged a 2-run double to left-center, giving the Northern Lions BC a 5-3 lead. It was the 5th double of the year for Encarnación.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Encarnación.
The Pandas, now 34-32, have lost 4 straight.
