Legion Come Up Short at Greenville
|
Thom Beach made an impact in the 7-6 Greenville win over Kingston Township. Beach, who is tied for 6th in the 3L in triples with 2, was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winner was Coy Broderick, who threw 89 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 5 runs on 4 hits. The save went to Colijn de Goedere, his 1st this season.
Pablo Marrero, who leads the 3L in stolen bases with 25, aided the Greenville cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Beach, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
Greenville is now 20-23.
