Piranhas Slip Past Phoenix, 4-3
|
The Panama City Piranhas picked up a win at The Tank, knocking off the Phoenix Hotspur, 4-3. Starting pitcher Pedro Alejándrez was an essential part of his team's success. With the win, Panama City has a record of 31-30. Phoenix falls to 32-29.
The Piranhas beat the Hotspur in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Andy Putman produced in the bottom of the 13th. Batting against Phoenix pitcher Mitchell Atwell, Putman gave his team a 4-3 lead when he hit a walk-off run-scoring single.
"I was a little disappointed," said Phoenix manager Michael Esposito. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
