Nobles Get Close Win Over Dogfish Head
|
The Bakersfield Nobles and Milton Dogfish Head obliged those fans who came to Jerome Grounds looking for a good time.
The Bakersfield Nobles beat the Milton Dogfish Head, 5-4 at Jerome Grounds, in part due to first baseman Bill Chambers, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winner was Bakersfield reliever José Sánchez, now 1-1. The loser was Mario Hurrado.
The clutch at-bat in the bottom of the ninth belonged to Chambers. Facing Mario Hurrado with runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Bakersfield first baseman had a run-scoring double. Game over, walk-off style!
"We squandered some opportunities," said Milton manager Josh Jackson.
With the win, Bakersfield pushes its record to 5-5.
